Summerjam Camping: What you need to know - and where you can camp

Just like reggae music and sunshine, camping is an integral part of the Summerjam festival for many.

Days before the start of the festival, the area around the Fühlinger See, where there are fixed rules for swimming, is used to set up tents, bungalows or mobile homes.

The "Caravan Camping" and "Comfort Camp" options are already fully booked, so those who want to camp "only" have the "old-fashioned" pitching their tent.

However, this is only permitted in the immediate vicinity of the lake, not in the surrounding forest areas.

All camping offers are only possible with a festival wristband, which entitles you to entry for the entire weekend.

Of course, there are also rules for this, as the organizers explain.

  • Before Monday, June 27th, 2022, no camping is permitted in the Fühlinger See area.

The city of Cologne will take action against wild campers, the organizers explain.

  • From Monday, June 27th, 12:00 p.m., camping areas C2, C3, C4 will be open to pre-campers who have booked a place online in advance, for example for a caravan.

  • From Wednesday, June 29th, 12:00 p.m., all camping areas will be open.

The fee per person/per night is €15 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).

  • Camping is free of charge from Thursday, June 30, 8:00 a.m.

Summerjam at Fühlinger See: Are there any closures during the festival?

As announced by the City of Cologne, Oranjehofstrasse between the intersection of Edsel-Ford-Strasse and Neusser Landstrasse will be open to motorized private transport, cyclists and Pedestrians blocked.

Signs direct festival visitors from the Cologne-Niehl motorway exit to the Bergheimer Weg parking area.

From there, special buses will take you to the festival site.

Due to the limited parking space, the city asks you to travel by public transport and to use the loading and unloading facilities in car parks P4 and P7.

In the districts around the Fühlinger See, traffic disruptions must also be expected.

Access to the Fühlinger See south of the Merianbrücke is only permitted with a valid access authorisation.

The local recreation area is also accessible during the festival in the Fühlingen district (north of the Merian Bridge).

Summerjam 2022: What does the area at Fühlinger See look like?

What is on offer apart from the concerts?

The area includes the so-called "Red Stage" (main stage) and the "Green Stage".

Both festival stages are only a few hundred meters apart.

There is a market on the site, various food and drink stands and a dancehall area, which is played on the two stages on Friday and Saturday after the end of the program.

Bringing drinks (non-alcoholic) is only permitted in Tetrapaks.
