British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has to deal with another scandal in his party.
Tory MP Chris Pincher resigned as deputy whip for the group for allegedly groping two men while intoxicated.
"I drank far too much," Pincher wrote in his resignation letter to Johnson, according to the BBC and Sky News.
"I've embarrassed myself and others which is the last thing I want to do," Pincher wrote, apologizing.
Pincher reportedly 'extremely drunk' at exclusive Tory club
However, the conservative did not provide any further information on the incident.
According to the BBC, however, Pincher was seen "extremely drunk" at the Carlton Club, the exclusive club for Conservative Party members in London.
Pincher reportedly intends to keep his seat as MP to continue supporting Johnson in Parliament.
Johnson has been under pressure for months over his role in illegal parties at Downing Street government headquarters during the coronavirus lockdown.
For the prime minister, the case is also delicate.
According to a report by the Politico website, he is said to have known about similar allegations against Pincher for months.
Labor demands further consequences
Deputy Labor leader Angela Rayner urged Johnson to take further action after the incident, according to the BBC.
Johnson must answer the "serious question" of why Pincher was given the role of cheerleader and why he could remain as an MP.
If Pincher also gives up his mandate, it could be another loss for the Tories.
Most recently, the Conservatives had already lost two seats in Parliament because MPs had resigned from their offices due to misconduct.
Conservative Neil Parish resigned in April after it was revealed he had been watching porn on his mobile phone in Parliament.
MP Imran Ahmad Khan resigned after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.
The Liberal Democrats and the Labor Party won the by-elections.
