"A stupid corner": Eitting councilor discusses the parking lot in front of the Wiest butcher's shop

The parking situation at the Wiest butcher shop and in the curve coming from Obere Hauptstraße has been a tricky topic for years.

Because time and time again, cars or even trucks are parked in the curve area, blocking the view of other road users.

In the municipal council meeting, Mayor Reinhard Huber (Ortsliste Reisen) brought up the subject again and suggested a ban on stopping in the curve area.

Eitting – The situation was the subject of the traffic show.

A lengthy discussion ensued in the council.

"In business terms, it's a fiasco for us if you can no longer park in front of the shop," said municipal councilor Christine Wiest (independent), who runs the butcher's shop together with her husband Manfred.

She also reported on a car that simply blocked a parking space for a long time.

Wiest then informed the police, "but then it suddenly disappeared without a trace".

Cars are allowed to park there for 14 days, said Bauhofleiter and municipal councilor Markus Scharl.

Here the suspicion arises that holidaymakers use this as a free parking facility.

"Does a parking ban even get rid of illegal parkers?" asked Benjamin Groß (Ortsliste Reisen).

"It's rare for people to park in the curve.

And if so, the other road users will drive even more carefully,” Konrad Zollner (CSU) was convinced.

Incidentally, it has never cracked in this area.

However, motorists also park a bit on the sidewalk.

"It's a stupid corner," said City Hall boss Huber.

"I also know that it's not ideal," says Wiest.

For Josef Straßer (Ortsliste Reisen), it is “a precarious position.

An agricultural vehicle can no longer get through to a parker”.

"Do I have to regulate everything and dictate everything to the people?" Zollner said indignantly.

Truck drivers often only stopped briefly to get a meat loaf and left their vehicle in the curve area.

An alternative to coming via Reisener Straße is also not really recommended.

Wiest reported that bus drivers sometimes reacted aggressively there.

But she also acknowledged that there are unreasonable parkers.

The municipal traffic surveillance can control the entire area, said Huber.

Wiest also pointed out that children could wear high-visibility vests to be seen better.

She was already in school for that.

The protective vests are issued by the elementary school in Eitting, but in their opinion hardly any children wear them.

Scharl now suggested whether parking spaces could be sprayed on, i.e. marked accordingly - like in a play street.

But that has to be clarified first.

A certain roadway width is required for this.

When asked by Helga Niedermayer (place list Gaden), Wiest assured that there were also parking spaces in the courtyard.

"You can drive in there.

Maybe we'll put up a sign saying you can park in the yard," she said.

Finally, the plenum agreed that no stopping ban would be issued for the time being.

However, the police are being asked whether it would be possible to have parking spaces sprayed.
