The number of beneficiaries of the (My Medicines) project, which was launched by the (Syria Brings Us Together) Foundation in 2020, has reached about 1,000 patients annually, according to the project manager at the Foundation, Sirine Al-Farra.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Al-Farra indicated that the project aims to reduce the burden of purchasing medicines for chronic diseases, which has become difficult to secure due to the conditions of the terrorist war on Syria and the economic siege, as the project works to provide them to a number of patients free of charge for a whole year, subject to renewal according to the patient's family conditions.

Al-Farra pointed out that the target groups of the project are the most needy families, the elderly, families of martyrs, wounded and missing persons, families without breadwinners, widows and divorced women, pointing out that the project provides medicines for ischemic diseases, heart failure, cholesterol, asthma, diabetes and hypertension, and they are distributed by filling out a medical form showing the condition of the patient. The patient’s health and medical prescription, in addition to a form explaining his social status, then a medical card is organized for him and medicines are given at the end of each month from two pharmacies contracting with the institution in Damascus.

Al-Farra pointed out that the project currently covers the governorates of Damascus and its countryside as a first step, and it is scheduled to be expanded to cover other governorates in the coming stages and to include other types of diseases.

A number of beneficiaries expressed the importance of these initiatives, stressing that it relieves them of a lot of financial burdens under the current circumstances and reflects the true image of social solidarity. A large number of elderly people, as he contributed to securing medicine for his mother, who suffers from heart disease, and its price reaches 40,000 Syrian pounds.

It is noteworthy that the (Syria Brings Us Together) Foundation was established in 2014 and aims to provide support to the families of the martyrs, the wounded and needy families, in addition to establishing recreational activities and providing foodstuffs to orphanages.
