Saadia Matar, one of the older prisoners held in an Israeli prison, has died and the West Bank and Gaza are blaming Israel • Fatah: "The world must intervene to force Israel to act in accordance with international agreements"

Palestinian bodies report tensions in the cells of security prisoners held in Israeli prisons after the death this morning (Saturday) of Palestinian prisoner Saadia Matar.

Matar, 68, a mother of eight from the Hebron area, is one of the older inmates held in an Israeli prison, and Palestinian media reported that she was arrested late last year near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron on the grounds that she had tried to carry out a stabbing attack.

Following the news of her death, the Foreign Ministry in Ramallah demanded that investigations be launched into the circumstances that led to her death.

Fatah accused that "this is a new crime that joins the rest, and a result of Israel's deliberate medical neglect policy against the Palestinian detainees.

The world must intervene to force Israel to act in accordance with international agreements, "it said.

In addition, Palestinian government spokesman Ibrahim Melchem noted that "Israel bears full responsibility for the death of the prisoner, and demanded that international human rights bodies investigate her death, as well as press the occupation to release all prisoners, patients and children in particular."

The Palestinian Prison Authority also joined the condemnation, saying that "the death of the prisoner is part of the racist revenge crimes against the prisoners and the prisoners. The immunity granted to Israel to carry out these acts against the detainees must be stopped."

Meanwhile, Hamas blamed Israel for its death and threatened the consequences.

A spokesman for the organization, Abdel Altif Kanoua, said that "this proves the barbarity of the occupation in relation to the prisoners, and especially the sick prisoners."

The Islamic Jihad also issued a statement saying "Occupation crimes continue without regard to prisoner rights laws. This is terrorism and a sign of Cain on the forehead of the occupation, as well as a continuation of the slow killing policy the prisoners are exposed to. "The case of sick prisoners must be opened," it was written.

At the same time, Hamas is trying to raise the issue of Palestinian prisoners on the public and media agenda in Israel.

Last week, the organization released a video of Hisham Assid, one of the four Israeli prisoners held in Gaza.

Hamas claimed that his health had deteriorated, while in Israel they said that it was not possible to learn from the documentation about Assyed's condition, and his father even told the media that he felt that his son was in good condition.

It should be noted that the Lebanese Almiadin network reported from its sources last week that Hamas informed the mediators that it was ready to carry out a humanitarian exchange of prisoners in which the organization agreed to release the Israeli prisoner in exchange for the release of sick prisoners in Israeli prisons.
