Chamberlain Thomas Ernst had brought good and bad news to the city councilors about the budget situation in the main committee.

First the pleasing development: the city's income is developing better than forecast in the budget plan.

"But that's not why we're jumping for joy, we're happily acknowledging this development," emphasized Mayor Florian Hartmann (SPD).

After all, you never know what might happen later in the year.

Trade tax is already above the estimate

But it's still nice that the trade tax is already higher than the rate for.

In addition, the city can apparently expect an unplanned financial allocation of 1.6 million euros to compensate for the loss of income from trade tax last year.

In addition, all other tax revenues, especially the important income tax, are on schedule, "and the positive development is already fixed," said the mayor.

If only it weren't for the other side of the coin, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Rising prices due to inflation, skyrocketing energy costs - citizens know all of this from shopping in the supermarket or from driving to the gas station.

This development does not spare the city of Dachau.

It is already clear that much more money will have to be spent on energy, for example, than planned during the budget deliberations at the end of last year.

In concrete terms, the additional costs for electricity alone amount to 160,000 euros for 2022, even more, namely 240,000 euros is the plus for heating costs.

The construction costs increase the most

At 444,000 euros, the costs increase the most at the building yard, since the gas station for municipal vehicles is also located there, as the mayor explained.

"We pay 15,000 euros more for every tank filling." And orders have already been placed seven times this year, and other operating materials are also becoming more expensive.

These additional costs are currently being examined.

But one thing is already certain: the cost cap of 17 million euros for material costs, which the city councilors set last year in their working group on budget consolidation, will not be maintained for 2023.

The administration therefore proposed a new cost limit of 20 million euros.

"The expenses are understandable," agreed Jürgen Seidl (FDP).

But the new limit should only apply to 2023.

For the following years, one could set the limit for the budget deliberations, agreed Mayor Hartmann.

"Maybe we know more about that.

But it will probably be even more expensive.” Florian Schiller (CSU) asked for a conclusive presentation of the additional costs at the building yard.

These would be checked, emphasized Ernst.

Because unplanned things should not "slip down".
