Der Spiegel: The European Commission will soon determine its position on the transfer of goods to Kaliningrad

German magazine Der Spiegel revealed that the European Commission will soon publish clarifications on the issue of transportation to the Kaliningrad region from Russia, noting that these clarifications are summed up in the fact that Moscow has the right to use transit for all goods.

The magazine indicated that the European Commission will mention in the document that Russia can transfer sanctioned goods to Kaliningrad in the amount that was transported before the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

The magazine pointed out that Lithuania, which imposes restrictions on the transit of goods from Russia to the region, criticized the commission's move and considered it a "defeat."

Der Spiegel also considered that the European Commission's move would put an end to a dispute that was not only a source of great tension between Moscow and Brussels, but also exposed the existing differences within the European Union regarding the adoption of a unified position towards Russia.

The deputy head of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, confirmed a few days ago that Russia's response to the ban imposed on the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad canton will be very harsh, pointing out that this escalation is a bad option and ordinary citizens of Lithuania will suffer from it.
