Earthquake in Iran:
At least five people were killed during the night (Saturday) in a magnitude 6.1 earthquake.
The area later suffered two more quakes of magnitude 6.3 and 6.1.
Iranian television reported that at least 12 casualties were evacuated to hospital for medical treatment.
Rescue teams have also been reported operating in the area setting up tents for people who lost their homes in the quake.
According to the Reuters news agency, the two additional quakes occurred near the Persian Gulf.
Beyond that, more than 12 aftershocks were felt.
"All the victims died in the first earthquake and no one was injured in the two more quakes. People were already out of their homes," Bender province governor Said Fouad was quoted as saying by Iranian media.
Iran has witnessed several earthquakes in recent years.
In 2003, a national catastrophe occurred when 31,000 people were killed in a magnitude 6.6 earthquake that wreaked havoc in the southeastern city of Am.
