Rottach-Egern – After a boat capsized on Lake Tegernsee near Rottach-Egern, a search operation was launched by the police on Saturday.
On Saturday (July 2nd), shortly after 11.45 a.m., an emergency call reported a capsized kayak and calls for help on Lake Tegernsee.
"In the Rottach-Egern Schorn/Ganghoferstrasse area, a 17-year-old boy from Emmering was fishing with his father on Lake Tegernsee," reports the Bad Wiessee Police Inspectorate.
"Everyone was out with their own kayak."
After the father returned to shore, he noticed that his son's boat had capsized and that he was no longer to be seen.
The boat probably capsized due to the strong wind, police said.
An extensive search operation was started immediately with a large number of divers from the water rescue service and fire brigade, the police boat and a helicopter.
The search is still ongoing.
