Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin reiterated his country's refusal to engage in any conflict between North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Russia as a result of the Russian military operation in Donbass.

In statements carried by Russia's website, Vulin expressed his country's commitment to respecting international law and not being involved in any crisis between NATO and Russia, refusing to make Serbia a NATO infantry force and for Belgrade to become a force to be drawn into this conflict.

Vulin had indicated earlier that Western countries offered Serbia to recognize the independence of Kosovo and cut any ties with Russia in exchange for Belgrade's help to progress faster towards joining the European Union.

In turn, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen invited Belgrade to choose a specific side against the background of the Russian operation in Ukraine.

On the 12th of last March, Serbia expressed its refusal to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), stressing that the aerial bombardments it was subjected to in 1999 were aggression.
