Tropical Cyclone "Siamba" hit Hong Kong, the Observatory issued Typhoon Signal No. 8 on the 25th anniversary of its return on July 1, and it took more than 21 hours before it was changed to Typhoon Signal No. 3.

As of 5:45 this morning (3rd), the Observatory said that the No. 3 typhoon will remain until noon.

The Observatory pointed out that although Siamba has moved inland and gradually weakened, the strong winds associated with it still affect the Pearl River Estuary.

Strong winds prevailed in Hong Kong, with occasional gale force winds from offshore and highlands.

Strong wind signal No. 3 will remain until noon.

Whether or not a lower tropical cyclone warning signal is subsequently issued will depend on the degree of local wind weakening at that time.

The outer rainbands associated with Siamba will still occasionally bring squally showers to Hong Kong.

There are still large waves and swells in the sea, and citizens should stay away from the shore and stop all water activities.

The Education Bureau announced that since the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 is now in force, classes in kindergartens, schools for children with physical disabilities and schools for children with intellectual disabilities will be suspended today.

The Social Welfare Department advises the public not to send their children or family members to centres that provide after-school care services or service centres for the elderly.

Citizens who need to send their children or family members to the relevant center or service unit can contact the center or service unit first to confirm their opening hours.
