Storm in the United States: The largest church in the Presbyterian stream of Protestant Christianity is expected to vote this coming Tuesday on a resolution condemning Israel and comparing it to Nazi Germany, media in the United States reported.
The Presbyterian Church of the United States, the largest body of the stream of nearly three million believers across the United States, has issued a statement that will be discussed at a forthcoming convention of the organization in the city of Louisville, Kentucky.
According to the draft resolution, Israel "treats Palestinians in a Nazi regime and steals water from the Palestinians for the needs of the settlements it builds on the ground. It practices apartheid and deprives the Palestinians of their civil rights. It divides the population along racial lines and creates reserves and ghettos for Palestinians."

Moreover, the decision uses the Holocaust to justify a boycott of Israel.
"We must not silence our criticism of Israel because of the history of the Nazi Holocaust and the silence of many Christian organizations back then.
The Leveling League, a Christian group that opposes anti-Semitism and the boycott movement against Israel, told the conservative news site "Washington Perry Beacon" that the organization is putting pressure on church members to oppose the resolution.
"The decision promotes the attitudes of people who have expressed themselves antisemitically in the past and attacks the only place in the world where Jews are free to express themselves as a nation, alongside erasing their heritage and history," the Christian organization wrote.
