The Hong Kong Film Writers Association held a Spring Dinner on the evening of March 15, 2018, announcing that Ni Kuang was the winner of this year's Writers Guild Honor Award in recognition of his contributions to the film industry.

Since Ni Kuang wrote his first script "The One-Armed Swordsman" in 1967, more than 300 scripts have been made into movies over the years, with an astonishing output.
