The Republican is said to be planning his candidacy - and could announce it soon.
Washington, DC - The US election is considered the most important ballot in the world.
The 2024 presidential election is already casting its shadow.
A possible protagonist of the upcoming presidential race: Donald Trump.
Donald Trump: "Early" candidacy for US election 2024?
Since the lost US election in 2020, rumors have been circulating about Trump's renewed attempt at the White House.
Now the reports are becoming more concrete.
According to information from the
New York Post
, the 76-year-old wants to announce his candidacy "early".
The preparations were already underway, the newspaper reported on Saturday, citing internal sources close to Trump.
The news channel CNN and the newspaper
New York Times
name “this month” as the date for the start of the election campaign.
Trump wants to announce his candidacy via social media.
Possibly via the “Truth” platform he founded.
US moderator Alex Jones said Trump would announce his candidacy on July 4th.
This is the US National Day.
Jones also referred to a source close to Trump in a video published on social media.
However, the seriousness of this statement should at least not be taken for granted.
Jones, who runs the right-wing portal
Infowars
, often attracts attention with conspiracy myths.
Donald Trump: Ex-President is 'on the verge of a decision'
Trump himself initially did not comment on the reports.
However
, the Republican told the
New York Post in June that he was "very close to making a decision."
The 76-year-old said a year ago that he had made a decision about running again.
Trump has already flirted intensely with the idea of another duel with incumbent President Joe Biden, but has so far hesitated with an official candidacy.
As will Biden, who would be almost 82 years old by the next election.
In the US there are also voices calling for other Democratic candidates, such as Vice President Kamala Harris or Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
Trump served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021.
A year and a half after the lost US election, the House of Representatives investigative committee is currently looking into the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Trump is accused of failing to stop the riots and even inciting them.
A few days ago, the U-Committee gave insights into Trump's behavior around the Capitol chaos for the first time.
Witness Cassidy Hutchinson belonged to the inner circle of the White House - and heavily burdened Trump in the committee.
