According to Justice Minister Marco Buschmann, the federal government will probably present a concept for preparing for the Corona autumn in July.

"The mask will certainly play a role there," said the FDP politician of the "Welt am Sonntag".

The minister did not give any further details.

With a view to the report presented on Friday by a committee of experts on the effectiveness of previous protective measures, Buschmann said: »Our duty to ensure that there is a reasonable legal basis and to use the knowledge available, as well as the respect for this evaluation body, require that we now evaluate this report.

Then we'll see." In his view, however, lockdowns

,

school closures

and

curfews

are no longer proportionate in the third year of

Corona .

According to the report, protective measures such as wearing a mask can continue to be helpful against the corona virus.

However, the experts put question marks behind many other known conditions, saying that reliable assessments are not possible due to a lack of sufficient data.

The obligation to wear a mask in particular continues to be handled very differently in the federal states.

Bavaria, for example, recently relaxed the requirements despite increasing numbers.

Only a medical mask has been mandatory on buses and trains there since Saturday.

A “big mistake” for Karl Lauterbach.

In other federal states such as Berlin and Hamburg, passengers currently still have to wear an FFP2 mask on local public transport, while in other places such as Saxony, a surgical mask is sufficient.

6.8 billion euros for vaccine

The total costs that the pandemic has caused in the healthcare sector since it began in spring 2020 can be quantified somewhat more clearly.

Because: According to a media report, the federal government has for the first time named the total expenditure for the corona vaccines it has procured.

By June 2, the government had spent around 6.8 billion euros on Covid-19 vaccines.

This is reported by the editorial network Germany, citing a parliamentary question from the CSU health politician Stephan Pilsinger (CSU).

According to the Federal Social Security Office, an additional EUR 46.4 billion was spent by the end of June to reimburse vaccinations, vaccination centers, citizen and PCR tests, protective masks, compensation payments for hospitals and corona drugs.

Together with the vaccines, this results in a total of 53.2 billion euros.
