The invitation went out spontaneously, but people came in droves.

250 participants, including many Ukrainians, attended the first job fair in the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach.

District

- The job opportunities were practically on the bistro tables - and the job seekers reached out courageously.

The district's integration officer, Max Niedermeier, described the first job exchange in the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach as a "great success".

Around 250 participants accepted the rather spontaneous invitation.

Around 150 Ukrainians, but also refugees from other countries and some locals came to the ballroom to look for jobs that would suit them.

The fact that they found plenty of it was due to the 30 or so companies that had sent one or more representatives to the information event despite the short lead time.

Specialist agencies such as the immigration authorities and the job center at the district office, the employment agency in Holzkirchen or the asylum social counseling service also provided information about their offers.

A relaxed atmosphere as a recipe for success

Niedermeier describes the atmosphere as “relaxed, empathetic and personable”.

After a welcome from District Administrator Olaf von Löwis and a few short specialist presentations, the job seekers were able to set off on their hunt.

The Ukrainian Iryna Titov, who lives in Hausham, and several interpreters helped to overcome any language barriers in the talks.

Niedermeier was particularly impressed by the wide range of industries represented.

Whether clinics, nursing homes, restaurants, hotels, mechanical engineering or moving companies: Employers came from all parts of the district to fill their vacancies quickly and easily.

"It's great how flexible everyone has been," says Niedermeier.

And in fact, in some cases, it wasn't just the exchange of contact details, but actually led to job assignments.

Participants want repetition

Talking at eye level without having to make an appointment beforehand or knocking shyly on the door: this is exactly what made the event so special, Niedermeier enthuses.

It is not surprising that the integration officer heard one request more than once: "Please repeat it soon!"
