There was a colorful day all about literature, stories, words and letters in the Schlossgarten Markt Schwaben.

Markt Schwaben - A barrel organ has nothing to do with the world of words and letters, reading and reading aloud or even literature.

And yet this ancient instrument is something that can certainly tell stories;

which, in one or the other case, can uncover memories that were thought to have been buried for a long time.

This is exactly what Irmi Wagner experienced when she came into possession of a barrel organ that was about 30 years old – bought second-hand.

A barrel organ that can bring back memories

Since then she has been using her instrument again and again.

Professionally, for example, the woman from Markt Schwaben works in the Fendsbach care facility.

And observed there how much the tones of a barrel organ can open the hearts of disabled fellow citizens.

Irmi Wagner has also auditioned in retirement homes.

And she can well imagine continuing to do so if there is a demand for it.

Most recently, it is said, she even played at a funeral in Munich.

They said it was well received.

At the “World of Words” there were not only readings, but also the opportunity to purchase used literature.

Just like she uncovered one or the other memory among the listeners on Sunday at the start of a special book day, to which the community libraries of Markt Schwaben and Ottenhofen, together with the Schwabener Aktivkreis Kunst und Kultur, had invited in the castle garden.

There was not only the possibility to equip oneself with all sorts of books that were distributed free of charge or offered at low prices.

Again and again there were readings under the shady trees near the town hall.

High school students, for example, who read to children.

Or local authors who read from their works.

For example Birgit Hufnagel from Egmating, who much prefers to call herself the court jester.

And who has already published ten rhymes and a book about cats.

She says she's loved rhyming since she was a child.

Wilhelm Busch was somehow always present in his parents' house.

On the edge of the parallel summer market in the town center, the response in the castle garden was repeatedly subject to fluctuations yesterday.

But it was particularly crowded in the morning when the young people in traditional costumes danced and asked them to sing together.
