Bad Wiessee – The citizens' meeting in Bad Wiessee highlighted a number of points.

A message of the evening: the construction of the bathing park is taking longer than planned.

Premiere fever recently reigned in the Postsaal in Bad Wiessee at the first town hall meeting, which Robert Kühn, as the new community leader, was able to hold since May 2020 due to the pandemic.

The SPD comrade wanted to go other ways than with a usual speech.

Instead of a long-winded speech by the mayor, it should be a lively town meeting that offers more than just listening.

At the beginning of the two-hour meeting, Robert Kühn officially welcomed the 150 or so attendees from the far-sighted stage and then descended to the people to discuss at eye level.

The Red Bank with the sign "Robert ratcht" was specially transported from the lake promenade to the post office.

So the mayor flipped the switch, so to speak, grabbed the microphone and acted as moderator for the locals for about an hour.

Badepark as an important topic in Wiessee

Robert Kühn announced in advance that he had visited around 40 landlords in 2021 alone in order to record their concerns and suggestions.

The mayor was proud that 150 refugees from the Ukraine have been lovingly received in Bad Wiessee so far.

Special praise went to Karen Lange from the social welfare office for her tireless commitment.

"The citizens' assembly is your assembly and I am now completely at your mercy" - with these words he then jokingly opened the unlimited question time, whereby the citizens should expect refreshing and honest answers.

No wonder that the closed bathing park was at the top of the list of questions right from the start.

The answer: “We are currently not as far as planned.

The construction costs have doubled and no pool expert can currently tell us how such a pool should be operated sensibly in the future.

We want to have communal swimming again, which all the valley mayors want to help with.” There is nothing more to say about this project at the moment, except that the existing bathing park is to be demolished by the second quarter of 2023.

The beginning of the replacement construction is still completely unknown.

Hotel and Gasthof zur Post closes

"Where should our guests go to eat when the Hotel Post is closed as a guest and community center at the beginning of November?" a former municipal councilor wanted to know.

Answer: "In terms of energy and fire protection, the whole house has to undergo a general refurbishment, which takes time." The walking distances are also too uneconomical.

Conclusion: A reopening before 2024 is not to be expected.

In any case, a bourgeois local economy is planned as a pearl in the Tegernsee valley.

While Hans Stoib was of the opinion that the still existing spa rest was no longer in keeping with the times, Diana Grelka wanted to know something about the status of the long-standing SME wasteland in the spa district.

"We will not deviate a millimeter from the valid development plan and will only speak to people who have already bought the area," was the answer.

The area is particularly important and forward-looking for Bad Wiessee.

Play arena in Bad Wiessee preserved

Hans-Gerd Lau wanted to be sure that the gaming arena would be preserved in the long term.

The mayor's response: "The lease agreement will run for another four years." The 80-year-old bon vivant and cosmopolitan Erwin Tontsch spontaneously spoke up: "The hall was given to us as a tennis hall by Otto Beisheim, honorary citizen of the valley."

At the inauguration, he literally said to him: "Erwin, just take care of the hall so that it doesn't get demolished later." Tontsch, who just came from his second home Canada, explained: "There in Banff it works now unfortunately as it is now here in the Tegernsee valley, where money is the only thing that rules – to the detriment of the local population.” He emphasized that this had to be stopped before it was too late.

Figures from the residents’ registration office (as of December 31, 2021):

  • Average age of the total population: 50.96.

  • Number of residents with foreign passports: 1,133 (20 percent).

  • Administrative budget 2022: 22,111,609 euros.

  • Asset budget 2022: 13,600,855 euros.
