The free electoral community in Bad Tölz has a new boss: Deputy Mayor Michael Lindmair takes over the helm.

Bad Tölz – From just 14 people present, Mayor Michael Lindmair was elected the new chairman of the association at the general meeting of the Bad Tölz Free Voters’ Association (FWG) on Thursday.

He thus replaces the former second mayor Andreas Wiedemann sen., who left the city council two years ago.

in this function.

His deputy is City Councilor Ulrike Bomhard, Georg Kastenmüller continues to act as Secretary, while Andrea Niedermaier was elected Treasurer to succeed Helmut Schwarz.

Assessors are Anni Stöckl, Ralph Munkert and Susanne Frey-Allgaier.

Hanns Rein and Helmut Schwarz will check the cash register.

Review of local elections

In the meeting at the “Binderbräu” the meetings for the years 2020 and 2021, which had been canceled due to the pandemic, were also made up for.

Above all, Wiedemann recalled the 2020 local elections, in which Lindmair ran as the mayoral candidate of the Free Voters, but was defeated by the CSU candidate Ingo Mehner.

Shortly thereafter, he was elected 2nd mayor by the city council majority, although the FWG faction currently only has six members.

Because of the election of Lindmair instead of the candidate Franz Mayer-Schwendner from the numerically superior Green faction, disagreements had arisen, which Wiedemann addressed again.

Criticism of the departure of Franz Mayer (Greens)

"Many people couldn't choose Franz Mayer," said Wiedemann, "because they didn't have the best experiences with him."

Wiedemann also criticized the "departure" of the long-time Green politician.

As reported, he surprisingly announced his resignation a few weeks ago during a city council meeting.

Ulrike Bomhard regretted that he did not officially say goodbye to his colleagues.

Wiedemann described the six-strong FWG faction as the "best mixed cast" and that they were very well positioned to deal with the city's upcoming problems.

The proven city councilors Margot Kirste (24 years old), Peter Wiedemann and Florian Rein (each six years old) have left the committee.

Likewise, Andreas Wiedemann did not stand again after 24 years as city councilor and second mayor.

Campaigning was expensive

The campaign cost 14,000 euros, but the Tölzer FWG now has a financial cushion of around 11,000 euros.

That will also be needed, according to Wiedemann, after all there are again local elections in four years.

In this context, he regretted that more than 70 FWG members were present at the 2019 assembly, but showed little interest in local political work between the election periods.

Current projects

The newly elected chairman Michael Lindmair addressed the current projects in the city and district.

Unlike the other factions, they also worked well together during the Corona crisis: "It was harmonious work." Lindmair mentioned the projects that had already been addressed during the exam in July 2021, such as the southern and Lettenholz schools and a youth café , movement hall of the gymnastics club, flood protection, spa house renovation and marionette theatre.

However, he fears that some projects will no longer be affordable in the future: “We have to prioritize here and pay even more attention to the expenditure side than before.” He rated the appointment of a climate advisory board and the current expansion of the local heating network as important achievements the municipal utilities,

A few hours later, Lindmair and his fellow musicians from the town band, Mayor Ingo Mehner and District Administrator Josef Niedermaier, started a bus trip to the twin town of Vichy in France at the invitation of the local band.
