After the long-time chairman had to give up her post, the Hohenpeissenberg Women's Association was on the verge of dissolution.

At a meeting, the women told us how it came about that things are now going on and why suddenly so many young mothers are joining.

Hohenpeissenberg

– This afternoon there is life in the “House of Clubs” in Hohenpeissenberg: a striking number of mothers with small children are there.

Some sleep in prams, others babble to themselves.

One of the toddler groups of the Catholic German Women's Association Hohenpeissenberg (KDFB) is meeting here today.

There are currently three toddler groups in the women's association - a fourth will probably be added.

"It has never been the case that there was more than one toddler group," says Inge Dreer, the first chair, and Marianne Hofmann, the first chair, agrees.

“The local women did it themselves,” says Dreer.

The two chairmen are happy about the active young mothers.

This is a good opportunity, especially for newcomers, to make contact with mothers who have been living in Hohenpeissenberg for a long time.

In general, it is important for mothers with small children to exchange ideas.

The women have missed the exchange a lot in the past two years,

dissolution threatened

This and other offers from the Women's Association almost didn't exist anymore: After the long-standing chairwoman Silvia Schmidhuber was unable to continue in her office, no successor was initially found and the dissolution would have been sealed.

When Marianne Hofmann and Inge Dreer heard about it, they spontaneously agreed to take over the chair.

"It was very important to me that the women's association continued to exist locally," says Inge Dreer.

And so did Marianne Hofmann.

She decided at very short notice to take over the chair: "I didn't know in the morning that I would do it."

Diverse program for women of all ages

The two chairmen want to ensure that younger women also feel addressed by what the women's association has to offer.

In addition to the toddler groups, there should also be lectures.

But it is also important to them that the older women continue to feel that they are in good hands and that they are being addressed.

The program for the coming weeks is diverse.

For example, there is regular open singing and aqua fitness at the bathing lake.

It is also important to her to set a counterbalance to everything that is going wrong in the Catholic Church.

"It's something positive when we women get together and, for example, visit the sick," says Marianne Hofmann.

Special permission granted

And the wide range of offers seems to be enticing: there have been ten new registrations in the past few weeks.

131 women are currently members of the Women's League, which was founded in Hohenpeissenberg in 1929 as the "Catholic Maidens' Association".

Mayor Thomas Dorsch is the only man in the group.

At the time he received a special permit: "Of course I joined, logically." He is pleased that the women's association continues to exist: "It is an association of committed women on site.

And that would have been lost.”
