A 40-year-old Ashdod resident was arrested today (Sunday) on suspicion of trying to sexually assault a woman - who survived thanks to her dog.
Apparently, there is an early acquaintance between the suspect and the woman who was attacked, and the act took place during a meeting between the two.
He allegedly tried to attack the woman, but her bitch who was with her protected her.
At this point, it was alleged, the suspect took a knife and tried to attack the dog, but this time the woman defended her with her body and slightly injured herself.
She was evacuated to Assuta Hospital in the city for medical treatment.
Police attribute to the suspect sexual offenses, assault and attempted murder or harm to an animal.
His detention was extended until Tuesday.
