Metz: walk through time

2022-07-03T14:34:16.269Z

VIDEO — To discover the little-known beauty of Metz, there's nothing like the daytime or night-time tours of the Constellations digital arts festival. A change of scenery and an enchantment.

And if you change the air, horizon, habit?

How about turning your back on Brittany and the Côte d'Azur to head to Metz for an extraordinary festival?

It's called

Constellations

;

he is dedicated to digital arts.

It's free.

And it offers you the unique opportunity to discover this city steeped in history, green, joyful and airy.

Take advantage of the afternoon to discover the Saint-Etienne cathedral which burned down in 1877, the victim of a poorly controlled fireworks display, its prodigious nave, its sumptuous stained glass windows, including those created by Chagall.

In the evening, between 10:30 p.m. and 12:15 a.m., take a seat under the stars, on the forecourt of the western facade, famous for its rose window.

And don't miss any of the two 3D projections or “mapping”.

The very modern and innovative one by the Japanese artist Flightgrafou;

the more traditional one from the Spanish group Onionlab.

The enchantment continues Place de la Comédie, the next afternoon, in front of the oldest theater in France.

You will admire the creations of the ephemeral garden, imagined by the gardeners of the city.

In the evening, resolutely dare total immersion under the dome set up for the occasion.

The installation by the Norwegian artist Anastasia Isachsen is displayed here, exploring the “circles of life”.

At the Cour d'or museum, after a traditional visit during the day, go and applaud the digital ballet that Nico Neefs created with the dancers of the Belgian company Ultima vez.

But you will only reach the peak of poetry once on the Saint-Georges bridge: with in front of you, the lasers projected on the water of 1024 Architecture, and in the distance, on the shore, the incredible giant lotuses of the Lyonnais architect Nicolas Paolozzi.

To take full advantage of this moment of grace,

it is better to go directly on foot to the Fabert garden where these giant flowers change color with the seasons and bewitch walkers.

As if you were walking through a psychedelic garden invented by Pink Floyd.

You will not be at the end of your wonderment: around twenty installations, to be seen day or night, will still have their magic tricks in store for you.

Until September 3 on Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays
