Copenhagen/Munich – Shots were fired in a shopping center in Copenhagen on Sunday evening.

It was initially unclear how many people were injured and whether there were any deaths.

Several people were hit, the Danish police said on Twitter.

"We are at the scene, shots have been fired and several people have been hit," the police said.

Those who are still in the building should wait for the police to arrive.

All other people should stay away from the area.

Copenhagen: Shots in the shopping center - major concert planned nearby

The police have sent massive reinforcements to the large shopping center Field's, it said.

When the first shots were fired, more than a hundred people ran out of the shopping center, Danish media reported, citing eyewitnesses.

Field's is a large shopping center in the relatively new district of Ørestad in the south of Copenhagen.

The large multi-purpose hall Royal Arena is also nearby.

A sold-out concert by British singer Harry Styles was planned there on Sunday.
