The case of the artist Paula Bonet uncovers new victims of her stalker

2022-07-03T15:40:30.476Z

Víctor G. has another open case for similar events and two other women have contacted the illustrator's lawyer

Paula Bonet was not, presumably, the only victim of Víctor G., the man who subjected her to a relentless siege for three years.

The artist's lawyer, Carla Vall, has revealed that three other women have also claimed to have suffered episodes of harassment by the man.

At least one of the cases has already been prosecuted, so that Víctor G. now has two open cases for similar crimes.

"Two more women have contacted me to report that they were victims of this man (...) There are already four, we can put you in touch," tweeted Carla Vall after the trial against the stalker was held last Friday.

The publication of the photographs of Víctor G. at the exit of the City of Justice in Barcelona —where he made statements in which he tried to justify himself and said that he suffered from an “erotomanic” disorder— has been the trigger for other women to have marked by episodes of intimidation and harassment.

Ja en son quatre.

One of the new alleged victims, the photographer Lidia Vives, has explained her experience in an extensive Twitter thread.

Until now, she says, she had remained silent so as not to harm the criminal process that Paula Bonet is following.

"The first message came to my Facebook account in 2019," explains Vives.

There, the stalker – who identified himself as Víctor Glybando – wrote to him: “Hello, you have the face of AIDS.

I was joking, eh, beautiful!”

A year later, she assures her, she wrote to him again via Twitter.

She asked him to stop, but she didn't block him in the hope that if she made any "direct threats" she could report him.

The excuses given by Víctor G. in the trial, says the photographer, have “boiled his blood”.

The accused assured that he was convinced that Bonet had fallen in love with him and his defense alleged that he suffers from an erotomanic disorder - which has not been proven by the court - as a defense to request his acquittal.

“This guy is a textbook stalker and he shouldn't be going free.

Follows a pattern of disturbed obsessive.

He is dangerous and I hope they lock him up”, wrote Vives.

Which means that he is someone who will repeat that behavior and, seeing himself unpunished, will go further.

I hope that the judge (I don't know who he is) bears that in mind.

The photographer adds that her case “has no point of comparison with that of Paula”, in the sense that the illustrator and writer suffered more continuous and more serious harassment over time.

Víctor G. often went to visit her at her workshop where she works in Barcelona, where she spent long hours waiting for her and where she intimidated Bonet's students and employees.

He later escalated his harassment of her on social media, where he threatened to rape, kill, and dismember her.

During the trial – held behind closed doors at the request of the victim – the accused declared that it was a mere “literary game”.

The Prosecutor's Office asks for four years in prison for coercion, threats and violation of the precautionary measure (he approached the artist when she had an order not to do so, which led him to enter provisional prison).

The accusation, which Vall exercises, requests four years.
