The diocese of Versailles is in mourning.
Father François de Foucauld, 50, killed himself on the night of June 30 to July 1, the Bishop of Versailles, Luc Crepy, announced in a statement on Friday.
"His body was found last night in the forest of Rambouillet,"
he says.

Father François de Foucauld had officiated for 18 years in the Versailles diocese.
“
He exercised his ministry in several parishes of the diocese.
Following difficulties in the exercise of his ministry, he had no mission since September 2021
,” the statement said, without saying more.
In December 2021, the priest signed a column in the newspaper
La Croix
, denouncing the law of silence in the Church in the face of pedophilia cases.
He also felt that he had been the victim
of “abuse of power
” and called for “
adequate rules of governance to compensate for any abuse.
