Standing on the reality of the educational process in the Damascus University branch in As-Suwayda, supporting its components, addressing the difficulties it faces, and upgrading its level to graduate qualified cadres that support the labor market, which formed the most prominent axes of the meeting of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr.

The meeting, which was held at the university branch headquarters in the town of Mazraa, discussed plans to construct buildings, create new colleges, secure educational equipment, university housing, and secure transportation to and from colleges to relieve students.

Minister Ibrahim affirmed the government’s keenness to support the educational process in all its aspects and to secure its components according to the available capabilities in the various governorates.

With regard to the ministry’s plans to expand in colleges and institutes in the governorate, Dr. Ibrahim pointed to the existence of emergency solutions and long-term future visions for the establishment of permanent buildings for colleges through a program that notes the necessity of constructing independent colleges, given that the colleges currently in existence mostly belong to the Ministries of Education, Social Affairs and Labor, expressing the ministry’s readiness to launch education programs It is open in the governorate when the components of the educational process are available in terms of construction, educational staff and laboratories.

In turn, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students, Dareen Suleiman, pointed out that the union is following up with Damascus University and the Ministry of Education ways to improve the educational process in the university branch and to present all proposals, decisions and studies that would facilitate the students' study, noting that the current trend is towards supporting technical and vocational education and providing support for the newly established colleges. And building a university housing unit in As-Suwayda Governorate to meet the demand despite the limited capabilities.

The meeting also toured the Fourth and Second Colleges of Science and Agriculture and was briefed on the progress of the examination process in them.

It is noteworthy that the Damascus University branch in As-Suwayda consists of seven faculties: the second fine arts, the second agricultural engineering, the second arts and humanities, the second education, the fourth sciences, the fourth economics, and the second mechanical and electrical engineering.
