With the energy-saving tip of the month, the volunteers at STagenda want to make people aware of the need to pay attention to their consumption and change their behavior if necessary.

The tips should be suitable for everyday use as well as simple and immediately implementable.

Starnberg

– The date in the Starnberg town hall on Friday afternoon was deliberately chosen.

Finally it was July 1st.

And on the 1st of each month, Karin Wurzbacher and Erika Schalper from the STAgenda want to publish the energy-saving tip of the month with immediate effect.

"We want to use it to address people and make them aware of the need to help save energy in difficult times," the two explained.

"Even in the last corner of the district, it should have arrived that the dependency on the supply of fossil fuels is currently not sufficiently secured and that bottlenecks can occur."

To start with, there are two tips that sound obvious at first glance, but can still have an effect: “Write down a shopping list and only buy what it says on it.” And: “When cooking, always put the lid on the pot.”

Wurzbacher and Schalper explained that in Germany, 80 kilograms of the groceries purchased ended up in the garbage per year and per capita.

Things are often forgotten in the fridge.

It is not only about waste, but also about hard cash.

After all, the 80 kilos would have a value of 230 euros.

And as far as cooking with a lid is concerned: "Everything that steams uses up unnecessary energy."

The two tips fit exactly into the concept that Karin Wurzbacher and Erika Schalper came up with.

"These are deliberately simple tips that are suitable for everyday use and can be implemented immediately," said Wurzbacher, who has been involved in the STAgenda energy and climate protection working group for many years.

"We want to show that everyone pays attention to the little things and can achieve something with them," added Schalper.

They don't want to argue with a raised index finger or global climate protection goals.

Of course, the construction of photovoltaic systems, the purchase of electric vehicles and the renovation of heating systems would make a major contribution to saving energy.

However, these investments are always associated with high costs that not everyone can afford.

"Nevertheless, everyone can do something."

The action received support from the city leaders.

Nobody has to radically change their life, said third mayor Christiane Falk and encouraged participation.

Mayor Patrick Janik also focused on finances in view of the significant increase in energy prices: "It is also about significant savings potential for each individual."

The energy-saving tip of the month is to be published on the stagenda.de website on the first of every month until further notice.

There you will also find further information on the topics of energy and climate protection.

The two initiators can also be reached by email if you have any questions or suggestions: kwurzbache@aol.com and starnberg@erika-schalper.de.
