New construction from 2027: The railway overpass on Ammerseestrasse will be rebuilt by Deutsche Bahn.
At the same time, the municipality wants to have a bridge built for footpaths and cycle paths - also as a safe way to school from residential areas in the south.

In a few years, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross Ammerseestraße on a bridge.
That was decided by the Transport Committee.

Gauting – The good news after the meeting of the Environment, Energy and Transport Committee in Gauting: As part of the construction of the new railway underpass on Ammerseestraße, a pedestrian and cyclist bridge is being built for 453,000 euros – also as a safe crossing for school children Königswiesen and the residential area Paul-Hey-Straße.
With 11 against two, the committee commissioned the Grassl engineering office with the further planning.
The basic decision to expand Ammerseestraße with bike protection lanes on both sides was then unanimously made.

The rows of spectators in the foyer were quite full on Thursday evening, because residents follow the traffic development on Ammerseestraße including the planned model settlement Am Patchway-Anger, Handwerkerhof and the planned industrial park "Gautinger Feld" with eagle eyes.
The agenda of the transport committee included the new pedestrian and cycle path connection between the Bahnweg and Römerstraße without crossings, but also the fundamental decision to convert Ammerseestraße.
Due to its “advanced age”, Deutsche Bahn will rebuild the railway underpass built in 1899 from 2027, civil engineering engineer Beatrice Bruns wrote in the meeting document.
Engineer Mihai Pop presented the results of the feasibility study to the committee:
A new steel bridge for pedestrians and cyclists could therefore be built as a crossing at the height of the Bahnweg and Römerstraße.
If the bridge is to be built at the same time as the railway overpass, the structure will cost 453,000 euros.
In the case of a subsequent construction, around 565,000 euros will be due, among other things, due to a new construction site facility.

This route is also included in the 2017 cycle route network.

A fundamental decision was also made on the previously presented draft for the expansion of the future lowered Ammerseestraße, a state road between Parkstraße and the roundabout (we reported).
According to the Haas engineering firm's plan, wheel protection strips will be laid on both sides "until just before the underpass," explained planner Christian Ostermann at the meeting.
If the green strips are also included and there are no branches, i.e. lines, running there, 39 of the trees to be felled for the road construction measure could be replaced by 31 new ones.
The councilors then unanimously endorsed the design with a minimum sidewalk width of 2.25 metres.
