Rehovot also joined the most environmental competition there is - "Summer of Cycle", in collaboration with the Walla!

As part of the competition, various recycling activities will be held on the streets throughout the month of July.

The municipality is working hard to motivate residents to recycle as many packages for the orange bins as possible, in collaboration with the summer camps of the Experiences Network and the municipal society camps.

The Rehovot Municipality will take care to increase the evacuations of the orange bins accordingly.

At the end of the competition, a recognition ceremony will be held in the presence of CEO Tamir, who will reward the authorities who showed a significant increase in the certificate of appreciation.

"In recent years, the Rehovot Municipality has revolutionized the field of recycling in the city, and in all areas, the volume of recycling has increased thanks to the cooperation of the residents," said Mayor Rahamim Malul.

"The need to protect the environment has led us to choose the path of competition with other authorities as well. The environment is important to the residents of the city and I call on everyone to recycle more - so we will win both environmental protection and competition."

Deputy Mayor, holder of the city appearance portfolio, Yaniv Markovich, added: "We place special emphasis on the issue of recycling in the city all the time. This competition we joined is another milestone in our efforts to further increase the volume of recycling in the city and I thank all the partners who joined."

Objective: Encourage recycling

Apart from Rehovot, in July about 20 leading authorities will take part in the project, with the aim of encouraging more and more families to join the recycling revolution and separate packaging already at home.

To this end, Tamir Recycling Corporation has created recycling symbols that look like small bins in the various trash colors (orange, blue and purple).

The symbols can be found on thousands of packages at various points of sale and these make recycling much more accessible and clear.

The authorities participating in the project: Rishon Lezion, Or Yehuda, Netanya, Ramat Gan, Holon, Rehovot, Kiryat Motzkin, Lod, Ramla, Yavne, Ness Ziona, Kiryat Ono, Petah Tikva, Nesher, Sderot, Ganei Tikva, Shoham, Givat Shmuel, Afula and Raanana.
