Under the title “Children’s Joy in Syrian Children’s Drawings,” the General Union of Plastic Artists, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Damascus Governorate, held a drawing forum for children under 12 years old in public parks in Damascus.
The three-day forum includes training children to draw in nature and motivating them to develop their talent with the aim of participating in future art exhibitions.
The head of the Union of Plastic Artists Irfan Abu Al-Shamat said in a statement to SANA that the event is new in Syria, aimed at attracting real talents from children and presenting their talents. It offers free courses aimed at developing talents in a variety of disciplines, from photography to sculpture, engraving and interior architecture.
For his part, a member of the Executive Office in the Damascus Governorate, Faisal Sorour, explained that the governorate provided a set of facilities with the aim of holding the forum and drawing joy on the faces of the children, pointing out that the number of gardens that were provided for the activities of the forum amounted to 7 gardens, where places were allocated for children to be able to practice their hobby easily and comfortably. In turn, Ghassan Karkotli, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sobki Garden Friends Association, said: “The association works to support all activities that develop children’s talents,” noting that the forum contributes to developing talent and creativity and increasing children’s self-confidence.
Fairouz Al-Zoubi, one of the parents of the participating children, indicated that the forum is an opportunity to learn new things, develop children's drawing skill, and meet new friends who have the same talent, while Hana Salibi considered it necessary to interact with children to develop their talent, especially in the field of art, as it embodies giving in life.
