Sixteen people were killed when a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
Ashutosh Garg, the administrative official in Kullu district of the state, was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying today that a bus carrying about 20 people skidded off a mountain road and fell into a deep ravine in Kullu district, killing 16 people, including schoolchildren, without specifying the causes of the accident.
Garg indicated that the bodies were recovered and taken to a hospital in the area.
Yesterday, the Indian authorities announced the death of 27 people, including six members of the army, and the loss of others after a massive landslide occurred in northeastern India.
