The technical workshops in the Lattakia Telecom branch continue through their telephone centers to rehabilitate the over-the-air telephone networks affected by the storm that the governorate recently witnessed, which caused great damage to poles and telephone networks, resulting in the interruption of communications for a number of subscribers, especially in the areas of the northern countryside of Lattakia.
The Director-General of Latakia Communications Branch, Eng. Ahmed Hayek, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the number of lines affected by the storm reached about 5,000 telephone lines in Ain al-Bayda - Kersana - al-Shati'a - al-Qanjara - Belloran - Zagrine - Ain al-Tineh - al-Saleeb - Bahloulia - Tishreen And broke 70 columns, in addition to 150 inclined columns that need to be straightened and damage to some solar panels feeding the photovoltaic units.
Hayek indicated that the company was able to restore service to 800 subscribers in the Ain al-Bayda call center after repairing the damage. It also completed the installation, installation and connection of a number of phone boxes with a capacity of 20 lines in the Ain al-Bayda area and the extension and connection of two telephone cables in the same area, one with a capacity of 100 phone lines and the other with a capacity 110 lines.
In the village of Mashqita, affiliated to the Ain al-Bayda Communications Center, the technical elements installed a telephone cable with a capacity of 100 lines and finished installing several cables on the columns designated for them in the village of al-Kanisaat affiliated with the same center, in addition to fixing telephone faults in the villages of Ain al-Bayda, al-Jawzia and al-Qalouf.
Hayek indicated that there is daily follow-up and within an intensive executive and time program to restore communications and repair all the remaining damages after the ministry and the company secured all the technical supplies needed to work from suspended telephone cables and wooden poles directly from the company's warehouses and transported them to the work sites and mobilized all engineering mechanisms and technical elements until Restore all damaged contacts before the Eid al-Adha holiday.
