Slovakia has pledged to hand over MiG-29s to Kyiv alongside a supply of tanks and shells • The Czech Republic will pledge to secure its neighbor's airspace in exchange for a transfer • Ukraine acknowledges loss of Luhansk region: "painful blow"

The Ukrainian Air Force suffered heavy casualties in the war over the country's skies against the Russian invader, but managed to continue flying and even exacting a painful price from the Russian army.

Now, four months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, the Air Force will receive a shipment of Russian-made fighter jets from the Slovak Air Force, Prime Minister Eduard Hager announced.

According to the Slovak Prime Minister's, 12 MiG-29s, a relatively advanced fighter jet that has been upgraded and improved in recent years, will be handed over to Kyiv, a number that makes up the entire fleet of Slovak Air Force fighter jets.

In return, the Czech Republic, which has American-made fighter jets, pledged to protect its neighbor's name until the F-16 squadron purchased by Bratislava from the United States arrived.

In addition, Slovakia undertook to deliver 30 tanks to Ukraine as well as a large quantity of Soviet-made shells, desperately needed by Kiev, as early as the next few weeks.

The Slovak prime minister did not mention the time frame in which the items would be handed over to Ukraine and claimed that the reason was to prevent Russian damage to arms shipments.

During the night, the Ukrainian army hit a large Russian weapons depot in the occupied Donetsk region and a huge explosion was caused on the spot.

The blast is part of a large-scale series of attacks by the Ukrainian military using the advanced Hymars missile system provided to it by the United States.

Despite the success of the attack on the rear of the Russian army, the advance of the Russian army continues on the Donbas front.

The governor of the Luhansk region, Serhiy Gaidi, spoke today acknowledging for the first time the fall of the city of Lisichensk and most of the territory to the Russian army and said it was a "very painful blow".

The governor added that he estimates that the Russians will now focus on the over-occupation of the Donetsk Oblast and the occupation of the cities of Sloviansk and Hamut.
