The National Hurricane Center reported that Bonnie became the third hurricane this season in the eastern North Pacific.
In the last few hours, Bonnie has moved west-northwest parallel to the coast of southern Mexico.
There is an alert in effect for the Mexican coast where heavy rains and waves are expected as it continues to advance through the Pacific.
