A woman is shocked when she finds a "mystery animal" on the street that looks like an avocado.
Then she discovers a few spikes on its back.
New Zealand - Hollie Warren is just getting home from work and on her way home when she sees something strange sitting in the street.
It looks like a strange rock or an avocado and she picks it up.
"I saw it had some spikes on its back and only now realized it was a hedgehog," Warren told The Dodo.

Except that the poor thing doesn't look like the useful and cute mammal at all.
It urgently needs help.
"I knocked on a random house and asked for a towel so I could walk the rest of the way home," says the concerned woman.
Once there, she immediately contacted an animal shelter.
But their foster places are all occupied, they cannot take care of the sick animal.
So she takes matters into her own hands.

Sick hedgehog rescued from street - Nugget suffers from mange
After consulting a veterinarian, Warren finds out that the hedgehog she calls "Nugget" suffers from severe mange.
Not uncommon in wild animals.
This disease is most commonly caused by mites burrowing into the skin, causing a rash and constant itching.
In addition, the spikes fall out.
The brave "Bigfoot" is badly injured and fighting for his leg.

“Nugget got some injections for the mange.
There is also some cat food, water, and I regularly change the hot water bottle under her box to keep her warm.”
However, milk and raw minced meat are taboo for hedgehogs.
She also gets very special oil baths to soothe the skin and encourage the growth of the spines.
Warren regularly posts clips on her TikTok account, hollieakala.
A video shows her lovingly "painting" Nugget.
This hedgehog is also a real Instagram star.
After a few uses and anxious waiting, Nugget is on the mend.
His transformation is just amazing.
Once she has fully recovered, she is scheduled to be released back into the wild.
