Corinna Larsen shielded her house, computers and telephones for fear of being spied on by the CNI

The ex-partner of Juan Carlos I had problems with the banks and blamed "the enemy" for an attempt to collapse his finances

Corinna Larsen, ex-partner of Juan Carlos I, installed security cameras in her London home, shielded her computer systems, reinforced the security of her mobile phones and ordered a "sweep" of her car for fear of being spied on by the secret services Spanish, as reflected in the emails that he sent in 2020 to Mario Brero, the owner of the Swiss detective agency Alp Services that developed this work, and to which EL PAÍS has had access.

The German consulting firm had problems with the banks and blamed "the enemy" for trying to collapse its finances.

Larsen will use this evidence, and the testimony of the Swiss detective who carried out this work, in the civil suit for alleged espionage and harassment that he has filed against the king emeritus before the British High Court of Justice.

A London judge has rejected the immunity wielded by Juan Carlos I's lawyers and in the coming days it will be decided whether he can appeal to the Court of Appeals of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.

With the aim, according to Larsen, of recovering the almost 65 million euros that Juan Carlos I had transferred to her "irrevocably" in 2012, or of rebuilding her romantic relationship, the businesswoman recounts in her lawsuit the alleged threats, electronic surveillance and surveillance to which she and her team of advisers, according to what she affirms, were subjected.

And she blames the king emeritus or people close to him, such as General Félix Sanz Roldán, former director of the CNI and friend of the former head of state.

Larsen adopted these security measures in August 2018. In his messages, he asks the detective to inform his London lawyers of the provision of these services and how he believes that both were spied on at the Mandarin Hotel in Geneva.

He explains that his lawyers are preparing a report that will serve to reinforce his accusations of harassment against the king emeritus.

proton mail account

To communicate with the owner of Alp Services, the ex-partner of Juan Carlos I used the Protonmail account, annirocprotonmail.com.

On November 24, 2020, at 1:40 p.m., Larsen sent Brero, 75, this message in English: “Dear M (Mario).

I hope he is fully recovered from his operation.

We are finalizing the legal drafts of our UK case and my UK solicitor (Alex Shirtcliff/Blake Morgan) ex K&K and QC Jonathan Kaplan would like to have a quick chat with you about the security measures we had to implement to protect our computer systems from being hacked by the Spanish.

It is important for the case of harassment, since cyber infractions are part of the act of harassment.”

“It would be useful to explain to them that we contracted their services (they will keep identities secret) around August 2018 and that their company had to do a lot of work to verify our systems in both Monaco and London.

(London is most important to us) and that one of your experts (your identity may be saved) had to make several trips to London to install security cameras in my home and office and to make our phones/computers more secure , etc.

We had to configure Protonmail etc.

The more thorough your explanation, the better.”

“It would also be good to mention that you noticed that we were being followed in Geneva (Mandarin Oriental), for example, and that it is very likely that we were followed in general (also in London).

We already have a great report from Arthur (the British ex-Intel/gov guy) and we just need to add additional information from you and AVI (from Israel) to fill out that section.”

“I don't recall if you also organized our car sweep…anything else I may have forgotten…the more the better.

If possible, I'd hook you up with Alex Shirtcliff.

I send you a big hug".

problems with banks

Larsen's emails with the veteran detective also reflect the obstacles that some banks supposedly placed on the German consulting firm after his indictment in Switzerland for money laundering and his testimony as a witness in the trial of the former director of the CNI, General Félix Sanz Roldán , against former commissioner José Manuel Villarejo.

Larsen asked Brero for more time to pay the invoice of 130,000 Swiss francs (about 130,000 euros) that Alp Services sent him on January 19, 2021 for the services provided in 2020. Difficulties that the ex-partner of the king emeritus attributed "to the enemy" who , according to her, was trying to collapse her finances

On January 27, at 6:47 p.m., the consultant sent this email:

“Sorry for the late response.

I had a terrible gastric flu for a week and today I woke up.

Thank you for submitting last year's invoice.

Of course this is all fine.

Unfortunately, a few days after the trial that General Sanz Roldán / CNI lost, they retaliated.

Safra Bank in Monaco (referring to Safra National Bank of New York) abruptly terminated their relationship with me last week.

They didn't freeze the account or anything like that, but they're being a total headache.

They refuse to settle invoices directly or send funds as before to my UK tax advisory firm or my solicitors... I would be very grateful if you could give me a week or so to revert with possible solutions and timeframes.

Hopefully I can open a bank account somewhere.

“I promise to come back.

In the meantime, let's suspend the press review (a service I contracted with the agency) until I know how I can fund the next few months.

The enemy knows an effective way to neutralize me to cut off access to finances.

It's diabolical."

Criticism of prosecutor Bertossa

Larsen's email ended with a reproach to Yves Bertossa, the Swiss prosecutor who then kept her charged with an alleged crime of aggravated money laundering for having received in 2012 in Nassau (Bahamas) the 65 million that Juan Carlos I transferred from his hidden account in the Mirabaud & Cie bank in Geneva.

“Bertossa is my main problem.

And he's just deliberately wasting his time.

I apologize for this and please bear with me.

I will find a solution."

Among the missions that Larsen entrusted to the detective was "ruining" the reputation of this prosecutor who investigated her for three years and whom she described as "Robin Hood."

The case was finally filed last December.

Among her assignments, Larsen asked the detective to investigate 14 businessmen friends of the king emeritus, supposed "straw men", as reflected in the Alp Services invoices revealed by this newspaper.

Mario Brero replied in French, at 10:59 p.m. that same night.

“Dear Corina.

Thank you very much for her email.

I am sorry to hear about her health problems and her problems with her bankers… I hope she recovers soon.

As for the bankers, if I can help in any way, I'd be delighted.

Thank you for accepting our fees, and for payment, of course, there is no rush.

For the rest, you know, dear Corinna, that we are always by your side, a word from you and we will come”.

The Mambo 1, 2 and 3 project that the Alp Services agency designed for Larsen included meetings with journalists and an “Action Plan” to improve their client's image by publishing favorable news.

The price, 30,000 euros per month.

Brero resigned to give his version to this newspaper about the services provided and used the confidentiality of his work.

Larsen has declined to answer questions about his relationship with this Swiss detective agency.
