Corona incidence over 1000: Hundreds of clinic employees in quarantine - one federal state particularly affected

Hundreds of clinic employees are currently in quarantine in one federal state, and at the same time the RKI for Schleswig-Holstein has recorded an incidence above the 1000 mark.

Kiel/Lübeck – Even after more than two years, the corona pandemic is causing restrictions in Germany and the world, and the situation in the clinics in Schleswig-Holstein is now tense even in the summer.

The reason for this is, among other things, numerous corona cases in the workforce, hundreds of employees are currently in quarantine.

"It is noteworthy to difficult everywhere," said the managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein hospital company, Patrick Reimund, on Monday of the German Press Agency with a view to the number of patients.

The emergency rooms in particular are currently disproportionately overloaded.

It is not yet possible to assess how the situation will develop in the coming days.

The University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) announced last week that it would temporarily close stations at its Kiel and Lübeck sites.

As of Friday, 479 employees were in quarantine at the UKSH.

"There have certainly been more since then," said spokesman Oliver Grieve.

"We had an extremely tense weekend." Renewed compensation payments for lost revenue resulting from the postponement or suspension of plannable recordings, operations or interventions are necessary.

Corona in Schleswig-Holstein: RKI records an incidence of over 1000

The exact cause of the high incidence of infection in the clinics is not yet known.

According to Patrick Reimund, one of the drivers of the infection process could have been the Kiel Week at the end of June.

The Corona summer wave is sweeping over numerous regions across Germany.

The Robert Koch Institute put the nationwide seven-day incidence on Saturday morning at 696.5.

For Schleswig-Holstein, the RKI on Monday put the seven-day incidence at 1015.6 - the federal state also recorded the highest incidence value in all of Germany.

On Monday, July 4, 2022, numerous federal states did not report any corona numbers.

In general, the number of registered new infections and deaths varies significantly from weekday to weekday, since many federal states do not transmit them to the RKI, especially at weekends, and report their cases later in the week.
