Cultural centers work to attract children to them by organizing various activities that focus on developing imagination, presenting educational values, and building a strong relationship between the child and the world of books and stories.

To learn about these activities, SANA met with the head of the Arab Cultural Center in Kafr Sousse, Elsa Qassa, who indicated that the cultural centers conduct activities for children such as drawing, calligraphy, literature, story, language and theater, in addition to workshops for reading and writing stories.

She pointed out that the target groups are children from 5 years old to 15 years old, in addition to children with disabilities, and that the center's activities included holding workshops such as handicrafts and raising their awareness on various topics, including knowledge of intangible heritage, family violence and communication skills with others, in which cooperation is carried out with NGOs. Whether the Association for the Rights of the Child or associations for children with disabilities and the Directorate of Child Culture in drawing workshops adopt talents and train them in order to hold special exhibitions for these talents.

In turn, the head of the Cultural Center in Jaramana, Ramzia Khiyo, said: “Our children have rare talents, and the Cultural Center in Jaramana invests these talents in literature,” pointing out that children have personalities capable of building the future and they are creative in different types of arts, such as plastic art, and we give them as we give adults. The appropriate opportunities for the establishment of diversified activities.

On the importance of these activities for children, the writer Areej Bawadakji, editor-in-chief of Shama Children’s magazine, spoke: True culture requires diversification in the way of reaching the child. We did not create a link between us and the child. We will not be able to reach the desired goal, which is to attract the child to reading and writing.

She added, "Children who attend the workshops do not like choosing magazines, for example, but after the workshops they develop a love for magazines." She concluded by saying that "talking about the true culture directed to the child is an integrated cycle that begins with the ideas that we want to direct to the child, whether in terms of visual or intellectual content or the access of magazines For children, the media, and interactive activities that demonstrate the credibility of the work and give the parties working for children an important indicator of children’s interests and desires.”
