More and more children cannot swim - and put their lives in danger.

A Moosburger now enables weaker children to take a course.

Moosburg

– Ferdinand Winterstötter enables children to learn to swim with donations from his charity campaign.

A total of 14 children have been completing the “swimming course for the seahorse badge”, which is completely financed by the “Children in Need” campaign, since Thursday.

The participants were selected in some Moosburg kindergartens.

Criteria were, on the one hand, that the kids want to learn to swim and, on the other hand, that they come from socially disadvantaged families who cannot afford a normal swimming course.

In addition, according to Winterstötter, in addition to the financial hurdle, there is often no access to the regular courses at all, as these are hopelessly fully booked.

A good fairy in the background helped

In view of the alarming number of bathing accidents among children, the idea arose not only to enable socially disadvantaged kids to have fun in the baths through the "Children in Need" campaign, but also to learn how to swim, explained Winterstötter.

But the course was not just his idea, according to the endurance athlete.

A good fairy in the background, who does not wish to be named, helped develop the idea and supported him in its implementation.

The course will be held by the Moosburg lifeguard Mark Przybilla and his colleagues, who had their hands full at the start on Thursday to divide up the two groups.

In the next twelve days, weather permitting, half an hour of training is to be practiced every day in order to learn the basics for the badge.

"It's not absolutely necessary for me to buy the seahorse right now," says Przybilla. "The aim is for every child to be able to swim in a decent quality without a swimming aid." frog or seal badge.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Winterstötter and his "Children in Need" campaign completely finance the course for the 14 kids and spend almost 2000 euros in donations.

The marathon runner from Moosburg, who had already initiated numerous campaigns such as the wished Christmas tree or the enrollment aid, would be happy if it could be one of many other courses and is still hoping for support.
