Electricity: The Court of Auditors recommends revising the calculation of regulated tariffs

2022-07-04T20:53:41.962Z

The Court considers that "regulated sales tariffs (TRV) are increasingly exposed to variations in market prices, at the risk of diverging more clearly from EDF's production costs".

We must redefine the method of calculating the regulated sales tariffs (TRV) of electricity, which concern 67% of French households.

This is the main recommendation of the Court of Auditors in a report made public on Tuesday July 5.

The wise men of rue Cambon sought to take stock of the Nome law, which has organized the electricity market since December 2010. This law was to make it possible to bring out competitors to the historic player, EDF.

In addition to the regulated tariffs, it set up the Arenh mechanism, so that alternative suppliers could access low-cost electricity produced by nuclear power plants.

And thus effectively compete with EDF.

It also implemented a capacity mechanism, remunerating the means of production for their availability during peak consumption.
