As-Suwayda-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda initially estimated the governorate's total production of apples for the current season at 59,248 tons.
The director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Ayham Hamed, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the estimated production is good and relatively better than last season, indicating that the most important production areas are Dahr al-Jabal, Arman, Sala, Mufa’ila, Qanawat, Miamas and Namira Shahba.
Hamed pointed out that the total areas planted with apples for the current season amounted to 15,956 hectares, comprising 3 million and 473 thousand trees, of which the fruit is 2 million and 842 thousand trees.
Apple is the main crop in As-Suwayda Governorate, knowing that its production last year amounted to about 40 thousand tons.
