A Filipino maid was arrested at the airport when she was suspected of leaving Hong Kong after allegedly slapping her 1-year-old hostess.
The maid was charged with child abuse and was arraigned in the Eastern District Court today (4th).
The magistrate adjourned the case to July 18 for further hearing, during which the maid had to return the maid.
The female defendant, DULNUAN Shenan Martin (29 years old, Filipino), was charged with 2 counts of child abuse, alleging that she intentionally abused or neglected a 1-year-old girl at a unit on Whitty Street, Sai Wan on June 1 and 23, 2022 X, causing the girl X to suffer unnecessary health damage.
It is reported that after the employer discovered that the defendant was suspected of harming the baby girl, she dismissed her and called the police. The defendant then disappeared and attempted to leave Hong Kong, but immigration officers found her and notified the police.
