In detail, the liter of diesel was displayed at 2.0643 euros, down six cents compared to seven days earlier.

Prices at the pump have been falling since mid-June.

The raw material remains at a high level: "

On a monthly average, [the barrel] stands at 123 dollars/barrel, which is the highest level reached since the start of the war

", underlined IFPEN in a note, Monday.

The refueling bill remains a central subject, which the authorities intend to look into.

In addition to the discount of eighteen centimes per liter, which must be extended, Bercy is working on a new additional device aimed at people forced to take their car to get to work.

This allowance would be paid in one go, subject to income: "

This could concern French people located up to the fifth or sixth decile of standard of living

", specified

the entourage of Bruno Le Maire, adding that going up to at the fifth decile would involve paying this aid to around 11 million households, reaching up to 1,600 euros net per month.

For their part, the oppositions are also advancing their tracks on this highly inflammable file: the RN, for example, wishes to lower taxes on fuels, to consider them as basic necessities.

The debates in Parliament on measures for purchasing power will allow the text to evolve on this point.

It remains to be seen whether the various parties will be able to agree on a final text.
