Kathrin and Thommy Mermi-Schmelz are among the cult emigrants at "Goodbye Germany".
After touring the world in recent years and keeping their heads above water with seasonal jobs, they now want to gain a foothold on Mallorca.
Will the emigration of the two go well this time?
Mallorca – The last few years have been anything but easy for Kathrin and Thommy Mermi-Schmelz.
The couple traveled the world earning a living by working as waiters and chefs.
But money is getting tight, which is why the travels should now be over - on Mallorca they want to build a life and even have the chance of a year-round job as a cook and waitress.
Kathrin and Thommy Mermi-Schmelz have worked in a number of places around the world
Kathrin and Thommy Mermi-Schmelz emigrated for the first time in 2007.
Together with their daughter Jessi they wanted to build a life in Brazil.
But after eight years they ran out of money, so they left the country and moved to different countries for periods of time to make ends meet as cooks and waitresses.
Because looking at the world on the side was the couple's great wish.
But travel and seasonal jobs don't go together so well - the couple had to experience that firsthand, which is why the two are now trying to settle down on their favorite island of Mallorca
.
"Well, it doesn't just look like emigration, today with us - it's normal, it's always just vacation, with one or two suitcases - but today it looks like emigration, I think, with so much luggage and it also feels a bit like it on again,
” Kathrin announces, beaming with joy, in the ninth episode of “Goodbye Germany”, which flickered across the screens on Monday, June 20th.

But at the airport it becomes clear: the start will be anything but easy, especially for Kathrin.
Because the TV star had to be operated on after a stupid accident a few weeks earlier.
She arrives at the airport limping - twice as stupid as a waitress.
"We're starting a new job, that means new bosses, who we already know a little privately from the years here on the island, but of course you don't want to start with a sick note, in the new job," says the "Goodbye Germany" emigrant.
