The former Minister of Health, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and Democratic Life since the end of May, has been appointed government spokesperson, according to our information.
He replaces Olivia Grégoire, who joins the Ministry of the Economy to take charge of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as trade, crafts and tourism.
At the end of May, Olivier Véran did not even appear in the first drafts of the new government.
“He rolled on the ground to get something,” mocked a ministerial adviser at the time.
He will now ensure, each week, the traditional post Council of Ministers press briefing.
There is no doubt that he will notably discuss the seventh wave of Covid in the coming weeks, a subject he knows well.
