I was surprised that it is fairly quiet in the north, but also very scenic.

Five bicycle routes lead through the district under the title "nahTourBand".

Heinz-Josef Prediger is someone who takes care of it.

Now he has been awarded.

Eichenau

– The fact that you can easily explore the district by bike is also thanks to Heinz-Josef Prediger.

Eichenauer has further developed and improved the routes of the "nahTourBand".

The Fürstenfeldbruck Civic Foundation has now honored him for this.

He is the "man of action" in June.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

They are square, green, labeled "nahTourBand" - and the pride and joy of Heinz-Josef Prediger.

Because the 71-year-old is largely responsible for the new signs that point to the "nahTourBand", i.e. five cycle routes through the district.

However, he not only designed the signs and developed the logo in coordination with the Brucker district office, but also further developed and digitized the routes, some of which already existed.

"More than 80 percent of the time we ride on cycle paths owned by the district," explains Prediger, "but we also deviate from them, exploring fields, meadows and meadows." The aim of "nahTourBand", which is part of the Fürstenfeldbruck Civic Foundation, is to bring people closer to the region and to strengthen the bond with the homeland.

The band now stretches from Germering in the south-east via Türkenfeld in the south-west, via Althegnenberg in the north-west to Egenhofen in the north of the district.

The five routes connect natural, architectural and archaeological monuments, biotopes, works of art and natural leisure facilities.

Parts of it, more precisely the routes away from paved bike paths, are also suitable for walkers and hikers.

Prediger came to "nahTourBand" a good three years ago.

"My predecessor had stopped and they were looking for someone," says the Saarland native, who has lived in the district for 33 years.

A good friend said that because he likes to ride a bike so much, he should give it a try.

And in fact, the Eichenauer is an enthusiastic cyclist.

He travels by bike with his wife and friends.

They were only recently on the Inn Cycle Path.

"2,000 kilometers a year add up," he says.

Starting with the community foundation, Prediger was only supposed to digitize the routes.

However, he noticed a shortcoming.

“Only the way there was described in the flyers.

So the way back was the same.” That's why he began to expand the routes into circular tours.

First he cycled it, then it continued on the computer.

He also gave the routes different colors “because you can memorize them better that way”.

Prediger attached particular importance to one thing when planning his tour: "It is important that people are offered a beer garden and a place to stop off for refreshments." In addition, care was taken to ensure that there were no dangerous crossings and that old and young can ride the routes .

Prediger has done the tours at least four times - and got to know the district in the process.

"I was surprised that it's fairly quiet in the north, but also very scenic," he says.

Above all, the Alpine panorama that is offered between Stefansberg and Aufkirchen is impressive.

That's why the North Tour is his favorite tour.

"The Alps are just close enough to touch."

Of course, Prediger also has tips for cyclists who want to explore the district on the “nahTourBand”: Depending on the weather, equip yourself with sunscreen, a cap or a rain jacket.

And very important: behind Maisach, i.e. on the northern route, take something to drink with you, "because there is nothing left there".

Only back at the Althegnenberg forest restaurant – and that could take a long time.

Preacher gets support from so-called route supervisors.

These are other volunteers who are responsible for the respective routes or sections.

"They drive the tours regularly, check whether the signs are damaged or overgrown and then report this to me," explains the 71-year-old.

He then arranges for the defects to be remedied.

When asked why Prediger is so committed, he replies: "Because I enjoy cycling and want to do something for society.

And that can certainly be something that's fun.” Project support for the “nahTourBand” isn't the first honorary position that Eichenauer has held.

When his children were small, he was involved in the parents' council of the kindergarten, later in elementary school and high school.

The 71-year-old still has a lot planned for the “nahTourBand”.

He would like to redesign and standardize the information boards on history and landscape along the routes.

He also plans various sub-hiking routes in the five routes.

But all that is still in the future.

First of all, the goal is to have all new information signs up by the end of the year.

Further information on the "nahTourBand" and the route descriptions can be found on the Internet at www.buergerstiftung-lkr-ffb.de/nahtourband.
