The Italian newspaper (Il Giornale) called on Western countries to stop supporting the losing Ukraine and forcing it to sit at the negotiating table in order to avoid the worst consequences of the confrontation with Russia.

Journalist Gian Mikhalisin wrote in today's article: "Shortly after the liberation of Lyschansk by Russian forces, NATO countries began to question the feasibility of their support for Ukraine and postpone negotiations with the Kremlin," wondering whether it was worth waiting until next November to hold a meeting of Russia and NATO at a group summit Twenty in Indonesia.

“Ukrainian forces cannot be compared to the Russian army,” Mikhalisin said, describing the belief that Western weapons could somehow alter the course of the fighting as an “illusion.”

Noting the technical sophistication of NATO weapons that the Ukrainians could not maintain, Mikhalisin said: “It is inevitable that there is a possibility of conflict with Russia ... At least the Germans, the French and the Italians will not want to make sacrifices for the sake of the doomed Ukraine.”

This is why many, from the White House to the Elysee Palace and the office of the Federal Chancellor in Berlin, tend to believe that "it is better to agree now," Mikhalissen said.

Mikhalisin also warned of the dangers of an unprecedented rise in the prices of energy resources, which the West desperately needs, recalling at the same time the expectations of the Bank (JP Mogan) that the price of a barrel of oil next fall will reach $380.
