Italy: Blocks of ice cut off glacier in thousands, at least 6 killed
The glaciers collapsed due to record temperatures and a heavy heat wave in the country.
At least eight hikers were injured.
The number of missing is unknown and the authorities estimate that the number of people killed in the incident is higher than known.
Rescue crews have been called to the scene and the search for survivors buried under the ice continues

Huge chunks of ice broke off yesterday (Sunday) in 2,000 Italians and parts of the glaciers collapsed.
This, due to record temperatures in the place and a heavy heat wave in the country.
According to local authorities, at least six people were killed and eight hikers were injured.
The rescue operations of missing persons buried under the ice are continuing and according to the government of the province of Trento - the number of dead is probably higher.

"Fortunately the weather conditions are good but the danger is that there could be further collapses," a rescuer said at the scene.
The wounded who were rescued from the scene were taken to hospitals in nearby towns such as Belluno, Treviso, Trento and Bolzano.
The landslide occurred on Mount Marmalade, the highest mountain in the Dolomites - a mountain range that is part of the Italian Alps.
It is more than 3,300 meters high.
The ice collapsed in a route used by hikers and climbers to reach the summit.
