Corona and delivery problems with building materials are to blame for the fact that the opening of the Explorer Hotel in Farchant has been delayed.

Bookings that had already been made for July have been reversed.

The first guests are now expected on Frickenstrasse at the beginning of October.

Farchant –

Jürnjakob Reisigl and his colleagues don't put themselves under any pressure.

Of the

Managing Director Explorer Hotels Entwicklungs-GmbH based in Fischen im Allgäu is relaxed about the fact that the opening of the new building in Farchant is being postponed somewhat.

The first guests, who were supposed to arrive at the end of July, are now only expected around the first weekend in October.

The delay is partly due to Corona, but also to delivery problems with the material.

"On the whole, however, we are very satisfied with the construction progress," emphasizes Reisigl.

The fact that the rough schedule that he, his business partner Katja Leveringhaus and their team drew up at the end of January no longer applies doesn't bother him much.

Mayor Christian Hornsteiner (CSU) has no problem with that either.

He still visits Frickenstraße regularly and is happy about every step forward.

The new hotel is the tenth of its kind in the Alps and the fourth in Bavaria.

The hotel chain is spending a good twelve million euros on this.

One house is like the other – 100 rooms, around 200 beds, lots of wood and fresh, uniform greenery.

All objects of the Allgäuer group are built in sustainable passive house construction and are climate-neutral in operation, including the new building in Farchant.

Works are also progressing well inside

"The clapboards on the facade are attached, now the cars from the painters are in front of it," reports the head of the town hall.

For him, a good sign that something is happening inside.

Reisigl confirms this.

In addition to the painting, the tilers are currently on site, then the carpets are laid, the pellet pump is buried and the outdoor area is planted.

"Then there are still all the acceptances, including for fire protection," says the Explorer managing director.

According to Reisigl, the bookings that had already been made for the first opening date - "with reservations" - were reversed.

However, the interest of the guests is still very high.

"We all know that our area is very popular," confirms Hornsteiner.

He is looking forward to the opening of the hotel and to welcoming the first holidaymakers to Farchant.

"I'm curious how this will affect the catering trade and our business," says the mayor.

However, he is already convinced that these 200 additional people in the village will "remember it straight away".

Mayor expects “no big problem”

Hornsteiner waits and sees whether the municipality will have to make improvements, for example in terms of infrastructure, such as the access road.

When he thinks of the Hammersbach house in the Grainau district of the same name, which accommodates 350 guests, he doesn't expect "a huge problem".

There are no problems in this respect with other Explorer houses either – he looked at this with members of the municipal council in Nesselwang.

“Nevertheless, we will always keep our eyes and ears open,” promises Hornsteiner.

Should there be any conflicts, a suitable solution will be found for everyone involved.

The mayor is aware that not everyone in the village likes the new building.

There were a number of dissenting voices, especially from the neighbours.

In the meantime, however, it has become quiet about this major project,
