The annual design exhibition is an annual event of PolyU SPEED, which has always been highly valued by the industry. On the one hand, it helps the industry to discover outstanding design talents, and on the other hand, it helps graduates to develop more employment opportunities.

This year, the academy invited famous designer Tommy Lee as the opening guest to share with the graduates design industry trends and career plans.

The famous designer Mr. Li Yongquan was invited as the opening guest of Rise & Design.

Courses keep pace with the times to train students' soft and hard skills

PolyU SPEED graduate Jason Wu hopes to change the public's stereotype of street art through his graduation project "MAD HONG KONG (Metropolitan Art District)", and at the same time open up more places for street artists to communicate.

Design is a way of life, and Rise & Design not only showcases the learning outcomes of graduates, but also reflects the course characteristics of both design and art.

Graduate Jason Wu's work "MAD HONG KONG (Metropolitan Art District)" focuses on promoting local street art talents. By connecting the community and active artists, he has built a cultural corner where art can express the spirit of mutual love.

PolyU SPEED courses have always been a popular choice for many advanced students.

Seeing that the integration of design and innovative technology has become a trend, Jason, who has 10 years of work experience, resolutely returned to school to add value to himself.

"In the past, I focused on graphic design, and my work model was relatively independent. The course helped me master the multimedia technology that can cope with the changing times, and the lecturer's experience sharing greatly strengthened my confidence in challenging different positions."

PolyU SPEED graduate Lucy Tan's work "Strokes of Nature" combines traditional art with modern technology.

The course focuses on interdisciplinary learning, through design practice and visual experiments, to help students seek breakthroughs in future career development.

Graduate Lucy Tan's work "Strokes of Nature" combines traditional art with modern technology. Following the guidance of the lecturer, she decided to integrate the 3D animation produced by AR technology into the calligraphy works, turning static design into an interactive experience.

Lucy attaches great importance to hand-made design, and the course inspired her to combine technology and creativity to redefine the expression of hand-made works, which has a certain influence on her future direction.

"The curriculum design is more diverse, and the lecturers often encourage students to try boldly, so that I have become more expressive from being bad at words, and my communication skills have also improved a lot."

PolyU SPEED graduate Bobo Lin's graduation project "MIRROR MIRROR" uses a relaxing board game to make young women realize the importance of inner beauty and embrace their uniqueness.

To effectively improve professional skills, the most direct way is to accumulate practical experience.

The college works with different brands to provide students with the opportunity to practice what they have learned.

Graduate Bobo Lin redesigned product packaging and brand image for Yee Shanghai during her studies.

"It is a coherent and valuable learning experience by understanding customer needs, formulating design directions, specifying design concepts, and then presenting them through various multimedia technologies." During the process, the lecturer's suggestions were very inspiring.

"When I propose an idea, the lecturer will guide us to think about various possibilities from multiple perspectives, making the creative experience more meaningful."

In addition to equipping students to meet the needs of work, using creativity to provide solutions to social problems is another goal of the course.

Students have cooperated with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to develop their strengths in the field of psychological counseling agency experience, and experience how to make good use of design thinking to improve society.

Bobo's graduation work "MIRROR MIRROR" also follows this aspect, aiming to arouse young women to pay attention to their mental health.

PolyU SPEED lecturer Mr. Zhang Shizong (Christopher) and course coordinator Mr. Lin Xinghe (Jack) said that the course focuses on four elements: interdisciplinary learning, cooperation, professional ability and sustainable development.

Innovate courses to enhance workplace competitiveness and cultivate talents with market tentacles and a sense of social responsibility

Course lecturer Christopher Zhang and course coordinator Mr. Jack Lin said that in order to meet the ever-changing design industry, the revamped BA (Honours) Media and Communication Design course focuses more on interdisciplinary learning, collaboration and professional competence With the four elements of sustainable development, we hope to cultivate talents with market tentacles and a sense of social responsibility.

"When designing the new course, we focused on the challenges that creators are currently facing. When online marketing began to mature, knowing only about designing logos would limit the way out. Therefore, the course covers a variety of career skills and prepares students in all aspects." Graduated Employment opportunities include brand designers, graphic designers, media production designers, motion graphics designers, new media designers, and web designers. In recent years, many graduates have chosen to start their own businesses.

"We believe that design knowledge can solve social problems. Entrepreneurs should not only seek profits, but also have social responsibilities and have the quality of global citizens."
